B.A., Biochemistry, Kansas State University

ABOUT ME:

Ever since I can remember, I have been fascinated by biology. From the submicroscopic world of chemical reactions that take place within cells to the macroscopic in the regulation of organ systems, I love it all. Since the time I started college, through obtaining my Ph.D., and now doing a postdoctoral fellowship, I have been studying chemistry and biology for over fifteen years. As a tutor, my goal is to pass my passion for these subjects on to students and helping the realize how exciting these subjects are.

Throughout my educational career, I was always the person that classmates asked for help. I tutored my peers throughout high school and college. In college, I taught an undergraduate biology lab. As a Ph.D. student, I mentored many other students in science. I am skilled in making even the most difficult concepts easy to understand. I am extremely patient with students, and I know working with me will lead to higher grades. I will help you understand various topics in any biology or chemistry courses. In addition, I can help with homework, lab reports, or with science fairs. Finally, I served on a graduate school admissions committee, and I can guide you through the process of applying to graduate school.

I am currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in Seattle, WA. My research centers on trying to understand the changes in chromatin and epigenetics between normal and cancer cells. I am also a member of the Center for the Convergence of Physical Science and Cancer Biology, a program by the National Institute of Health to bring together physicists and biologists together to develop novel approaches to cancer research.
